Are Mites to Blame?

Could mites in my lashes be making my eyelids sore??

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but possible yes! Demodex are mites that like to live at the base of the eyelashes and other glands in the eyelids. Often in most of us….

…. But when too many are present your eyes can feel irritation & itchy. As well as look red and crusty. Eye lash loss can also occur.

The next piece of bad news is… those who wear contact lenses and use cosmetics are often affected more. A 2020 study found that the mites were more common in those that used cosmetics, facial creams, eyeliners, glasses, or contact lenses.

The good news??? You can keep things healthy and comfortable. Next week we’ll start filling you in all all things lid hygiene?? What are your current eyelid and lash cleaning habits???
